Banket—A traditional Dutch pastry that is a part of every Christmas and one of the unique treats my mom taught us how to make. |

Our business is dedicated to our loving mom and Grandma. Betty Bultsma who lost her fight with Ovarian Cancer on April 18, 2009. For many years our family has been baking cookies and making candies at Christmas time and for special occasions throughout the year. Our dream is to have a business that allows us to share our handmade products. I remember growing up with the smell of my mom baking in the kitchen for weeks before Christmas. It was my signal that the holidays had begun. Even though we did not have much money she always managed to find enough money to bake those beautiful trays and give them away, one by one to special people. Recipients included friends, neighbors, teachers and co-workers, each person was thrilled with the time, quality and generosity of the gift. By doing this my mother taught me to be thoughtful of others, work hard, and stay up late to finish. It brought her much happiness to see the joy and smiles that the delicious treats bring. We feel the same satisfaction a generation later. My own reward came recently when my daughter, now in her twenties told me that some of her fondest memories growing up were falling asleep at night listening to her mom rattle around in the kitchen with the smell of baking lulling her to sleep and waking in the morning to the same sweet smell and treats to taste. My daughter Kara now joins me in this business to continue spreading many years of joy. Live Well, Mari |
